Has anyone had any success in getting a waiver approved once the indebtedness letter is created for this same reason? I am currently living off of my post 9/11 school benefits and my husband is medically retired from fed govt.ĭoes anyone have any experience in getting the VA to STOP sending you money so the sepearations pay will be paid back? I dont want to be hit with a 200,000 dollar overpayment one day. I was expecting to be done with "paying back my sep pay" next year October. The sep pay was spent on housing for a few months, bills and paying off car note. So now I have this extra money, cant spend it but because I have it, i also dont qualify for food stamps, over income limitations- or any other finaincal assistance for that matter. This time the guy had no idea when it would stop and to just hold the money until they ask for it.
#Paying for va services how to
She said i would probably get another one in Aug but the VA would send out letter on how to pay the money back. Got a call back that next week and was told that i should not be getting. Called back a few days later and spoke with someone else, she said she didnt see in the system why I shouldnt get but she would put in request to investigate. I told him award letter said I had to pay back post tax sep pay first. Called to VA was told he didnt see a reason not to be getting VA payment. Got VA award letter three weeks later saying approved at 90% (there went my hopes for going into the reserves) but will have to pay back post tax sep pay before getting VA disability. I am brand spanking new here today!įorced out in May, downsizing, and got separation pay.
